$100 Off an Arc’teryx Rain Shell and Every Other Deal We Love at REI’s Winter Sale

There’s a common piece of wisdom when talking about outdoor gear. You want three things from gear—lightweight, durable, and affordable—but you can only ever get two. My dad, a true outdoorsman, has been preaching this at me for years. He’s never been wrong.

I say that because I want you to have the right expectations going into this REI sale. These deals are incredible, but in 2025 a lot of consumers expect deals too deep. Hell, just this month we’ve seen Vuori, Filson, and Huckberry dropping 50 percent off deals. This is why other outlets want to trick you with headlines like “REI is offering 70 percent off top brands.” That’s not true. REI is offering 70 percent off Puffin koozies that look like jackets… those do make great gifts though.

Remember reader: lightweight, durable, affordable. Pick two. The only thing that’s changing in this REI Winter Sale is that good gear is getting a little more affordable. Packable down jackets, rain shells (like the Arc’teryx Beta LT), and Yeti coolers might only be 20 percent off, but that’s still a $100 or more worth of discount. That’s how we determine the best deals at Esquire. We say good gear is worth the money, and if you can get it for anything less than retail, pull the trigger.
