PureFit makes a wedge pillow system for anyone who is absolutely not joking around about their sitting-in-bed support. It is, first of all, very expensive for a pillow. However, it is technically four pillows, which you can detach and adjust as you need, making it more like an endless supply of pillows. We like how it has as much back support as you need, with options to move the curved back up and down for more or less upright support. Plus, the leg-elevation piece is great for sitting—and it also makes sitting on your couch or at a desk more comfortable.

The Cushion Lab’s teeny-tiny neck pillow is an excellent addition to the supportive-pillow collection. It is skinny (only four inches wide), which some reviewers felt was too skinny to help much. But we think it works well if you’re using it as an addition to another pillow—say, stacking it on top of your bed pillow for extra support. It has a medium-firm softness—it feels squishy but won’t go flat—and besides behind your neck, you can use it behind your back, between your legs, and under your knees.
