A new Belfast-based drinks company, The Sober Irish, is set to make its mark on the fast-growing alcohol-free and low-alcohol market across Ireland and the UK, as consumer trends continue to shift toward moderation, wellness, and greater choice.

Trading as The Sober Irish Drinks Company, the business will offer a premium range of no- and low-alcohol beverages through hospitality venues, retail outlets, e-commerce platforms, and consumer events.

The company will curate the best available products in the category while also developing its own-label range.

The brand will officially launch later this month in Belfastโ€™s Cathedral Quarter, with a debut event at the cityโ€™s well-known Dark Horse venue, which will be temporarily transformed into The Dry Horse to host The Sober Irishโ€™s first alcohol-free experiences and tastings.

Founded by award-winning broadcaster, producer, and journalist Jim Fitzpatrick, The Sober Irish aims to meet growing demand for high-quality alcohol-free and low-alcohol options.

The companyโ€™s ethos centres on community, inclusivity, and celebrating diverse drinking choices while maintaining a strong focus on craft and authenticity.

โ€œWe are at a turning point in the drinks industry, and our mission is clear,โ€ said Jim.

โ€œMore people want to moderate or avoid alcohol without compromising on quality or experience. The Sober Irish is a movement that knows how to have fun without a hangover โ€“ itโ€™s about nights to remember and mornings to enjoy.

โ€œThatโ€™s why we focus on quality, great taste, and trust, and why we celebrate the brilliant producers behind our drinks.โ€

He added that community is key to the brandโ€™s identity: โ€œItโ€™s about everyone who joins us, from customers to suppliers, helping The Sober Irish grow and evolve as a vibrant, inclusive community.โ€

From its Belfast base, The Sober Irish plans to expand rapidly through partnerships with bars, restaurants, retailers, and online platforms.

It will also host live events to showcase producers and build a loyal community of advocates for premium alcohol-free experiences.

Willie Jack, Director of Commercial Court Inns, welcomed the launch: โ€œWeโ€™re thrilled to host The Sober Irish launch at The Dark Horse, temporarily reimagined as The Dry Horse for the evening.

โ€œItโ€™s fantastic to see a brand placing such focus on quality, taste, and inclusivity in the alcohol-free and low-alcohol space.โ€

The Sober Irish also plans to develop a dedicated events series to celebrate premium alcohol-free drinks and the evolving modern drinking culture.
