Elvis was born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, to Vernon and Gladys Presley. He reportedly loved music from a very young age and released his first-ever single—”That’s All Right”—in 1954. He was 19 at the time.

From there, his career only went up, and by the time he died, Elvis had earned three Grammy Awards, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

“I learned very early in life that: ‘Without a song, the day would never end; without a song, a man ain’t got a friend; without a song, the road would never bend —without a song.’ So I keep singing a song,” Elvis said in 1970.

On the personal front, Elvis was married once to Priscilla Presley from 1967 until 1973. They had one child, Lisa Marie Presley, who was born in 1968.

Elvis died in 1977 at age 42 from a heart attack caused by the amount of drugs in his system. To this day, he remains one of the most revered singers of all time.

Jesse Garon Presley

Jesse Garon Presley was Elvis’s identical twin. He was born 35 minutes before his rockstar brother but was stillborn, meaning Elvis never met him.
