The 30 Best Reactions to the 2025 Oscars

The 2025 Academy Awards have already produced some of the silliest moments we’ve seen at an awards show since John Travolta called Idina Menzel “Adele Dazeem.” Even though there weren’t many comedies up for awards this year, Oscars host Conan O’Brien kicked off the show with jokes about Adam Sandler, Karla Sofia Gascón, and the sandworm from Dune: Part Two. (Twice!)

The laughs continued throughout the night. Ben Stiller presented the award for Best Production Design while trapped in the stage. O’Brien cracked a joke about the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. Even the Los Angeles firefighters had a few zingers to sling at the famous crowd. “Our hearts go out to all of those who have lost their homes,” said Los Angeles Fire Captain Erik Scott, “I’m talking about the producers of Joker 2.” Ouch.

The 2025 Oscars featured some truly stunning performances as well. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande opened the show singing “Somewhere Under the Rainbow,” “Home,” and “Defying Gravity.” The awards show also celebrated James Bond (or mourned, depending on how you look at it), with covers of famous 007 tracks from LISA, Raye, and Doja Cat. It was no Ryan Gosling performing “I’m Just Ken,” but we’ll take it!

During one of the night’s sweetest moments, Kieran Culkin gave a heartfelt acceptance speech for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. He thanked his wife and reminded her that she once told him they could have more children if he ever won an Oscar. Elsewhere, Zoe Saldaña took home the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, and Morgan Freeman gave a touching tribute to the late Gene Hackman.
