The 8 Best Body Hair Trimmers, Tested and Reviewed By Grooming Editors

There are a lot of body groomers out there, but obviously not all of them are created equal. When trying to decide what body trimmer is right for you, here is what to consider.

Attachments: Trimmers are designed to trim your body hair at a variety of lengths. Generally, a trimmer is not going to completely shave your hair, even if you use the blade directly on your skin without any attachment. They’re designed to leave a little bit of stubble behind (part of that is for safety on sensitive areas and part of that is how trimmer blades are designed). Depending on how long or short you like your body hair, you’ll likely use a length attachment loaded onto the trimmer to achieve it. If you like all your body hair to be the same length, you’ll only need one or two attachments, but if you like to switch it up or customize your look, you should look for one that comes with a variety of guards. Many will also offer other attachments to use in place of the trimmer blade, like foil shavers and more, which are very handy if you want a more customized look.

Wet/Dry: Usually you use a trimmer on dry skin and hair, but some guys like to use them in the shower to make cleanup easier. If you’re an in-shower groomer, you’ll definitely want to look for a trimmer that can be used both wet and dry. Wet/dry capabilities meaning it’s at the bare minimum water resistant (and in some cases completely waterproof) so you won’t damage the device if you use it in the shower. Another benefit to a wet/dry trimmer, even if you’re not a shower trimmer, is that they’re typically easier to clean because you can just run them under a running faucet.

Features: Most features you find in body groomers are designed to make the shaving experience easier. We’re talking about things like LED spotlights to help illuminate dark, hard to see areas, ergonomic no-slip designs, technology to make blades gentler on skin, travel locks and more. Most of these are great to have and actually do make the trimming experience more comfortable, but how good a trimmer is ultimately always comes down to one thing: how well it trims your body hair. Features are always nice to have, but often not essential and can, in some cases, drive up the price of the device.
