When people think of Matthew Fox they most remember him as Jack Shephard, MD, in the hit TV show Lost, which ran from 2004 until 2010. Now, though, the 59-year-old actor is ready to trade the magical island for the mythical world of Montana. That’s right, TV lovers, Fox is going to be starring in the new Taylor Sheridan show The Madison and Woman’s World recently sat down with him to learn all about his time on set. Read on for more.

Matthew Fox talks about his time on ‘The Madison’ and working with Kurt Russell

Madison follows the Clyburn family after they experience an unthinkable tragedy and decide to move from New York City to Madison, Montana to try and cope with it. In the show, Fox plays Paul Clyburn, the brother of Preston Clyburn (Kurt Russell) and brother-in-law of Stacy Clyburn (Michelle Pfeiffer).

“I worked with Kurt over a decade ago [on the 2015 film Bone Tomahawk], and that was a big draw for me,” Fox reveals to Woman’s World. “I just really like him as a person and as an actor, so it just felt like us as brothers was going to be really fun. And it was. It was like no time had passed, and we dropped right into that dynamic very organically. The whole thing felt great.”

“It was a lot of fun. We had a lot of laughs. And we had a lot of laughs in scenes. These two brothers don’t see each other that much, and so Madison is the place that they get to spend time together,” the actor continued. “Paul would love it if Preston came and spent more time on the Madison with him, but he cherishes the moments that he gets with his older brother.  Paul is carrying a certain weight of his own loss underneath, but that’s not the kind of thing that when you’re hanging out with your brother for [only] a couple of weeks that you’re going to bring up. You’re gonna do everything you can to stay in that joy and just enjoy that person that you miss and that you love.”

Matthew Fox shares how he prepared for ‘The Madison’

In The Madison, Paul is a very outdoorsy guy. He likes to fish and hunt and, according to Fox, actor and character actually had that in common!

“I grew up in northwestern Wyoming in a tiny little town on the Wind River Indian Reservation called Crowheart, doing a lot of fly fishing with my brothers, and so that feels very homey to me,” the actor said. “I really enjoyed shooting and I almost never enjoy shooting because of all the ‘actions’ and ‘cuts,’ but this experience has been just amazing. It being a Taylor Sheridan show, and just the way he writes, the quality of that writing and the world that it takes place in is something that I feel very close to.”

He also said that he’s “ a huge fan of Sicario [Sheridan’s 2015 crime thriller] and Hell or High Water [Sheridan’s 2016 Western].”

“I love all his film work,” Fox said.
