Fitness platform Ladder just announced their first celebrity partnership with everyone’s favorite millennial pop star—and it’s what dreams are made of.

Ladder has partnered with Hilary Duff, the brand announced Tuesday—a collaboration that represents Ladder’s commitment to supporting women at every stage of life, from motherhood to high-performance careers.

In a behind-the-scenes video shared exclusively with Women’s Health, Hilary opened up about how strength training has reshaped her approach to fitness and daily life. “It’s really important that I am physically strong and able to keep up with them,” she says in the video, referring to life at home with her children.

Hilary has had a long-standing relationship with fitness—but she wasn’t always into weight lifting. Like many women, she used to do a lot of cardio to stay small, up until a few years ago. “My training shifted more to strength training, and everything changed for me—how I feel, how I move, how I sleep, how I perform in every area of my life,” she said within the announcement.

Hilary is also in the midst of a major career renaissance. The mom-of-four released her first studio album in more than a decade, Luck…or Something, in February and is set to embark on a world tour beginning in June—making physical strength essential as she prepares to sing and dance on stage night after night.

The “Come Clean” singer feels her best when she feels strong, something that underpins her performance both on and off the stage. “Strength is feeling good in your body, in your mind, having goals, meeting your goals, setting intentions,” she says in the video, in which she appears alongside Ladder trainer Kelly Matthews, CPT. “Applying yourself to what those goals are is strength. Sometimes it takes a while, and sometimes you nail it right away, but always consistently trying to grow.”

Still, Hilary acknowledges that consistency isn’t always easy—especially on days when motivation is low. And that’s where the app comes in: “One of the things that helps is having Ladder on my phone and knowing it’s easy and thought out for me,” she says. Rather than spending time scrolling through an endless library of workouts, she highlights Ladder’s easy-to-follow user experience as a key factor in helping her stay on track. “I can just throw it on, copy it, and I have no excuses,” she adds.

Ladder has a range of strength training modalities and a library of 19 different workout programs, from focuses in bodybuilding, to kettlebell, to hybrid strength, each led by an expert coach. (Multiple WH editors are years-long Ladder users, FWIW!)

When motivation is low for Hilary (hey, she’s human too!), she leans on this simple mindset shift: focusing on how good she knows she will feel once the workout is over. Take it from her: “The payoff is worth it.”
