TO BECOME EARTHREALM’S greatest warrior, fan-favorite Liu Kang, Mortal Kombat II actor Ludi Lin relied heavily on calisthenics and martial arts training. The 38-year-old also focused on bulking up as his character prepares to defend against the might of Shao Kahn as he returns to the big screen on May 8 for Mortal Kombat II.
Lin says he put on about 40 pounds during filming, going from 165 to 205 pounds. He attributes the weight gain to diet and revamping his training sessions to focus on traditional bodybuilding and high volume hypertrophy training. The actor joins Strong Talk to discuss how he built his new physique with MH fitness director Ebenezer Samuel, C.S.C.S. and exercise physiologist and strength coach Dr. Pat Davidson. There, Lin also speaks about the challenges of bulking, his curiosity towards peptides, and the diverse training regimen of his Mortal Kombat II costars.
