This Sunday, May 17, country’s biggest stars will step up in the hopes of taking home an ACM Award. Hosted by Shania Twain, this Las Vegas ceremony honors the most successful musicians in the genre today, and one ACM hopeful is none other than 38-year-old crooner Cody Johnson. The “‘Til You Can’t” singer is nominated for four awards at this year’s show: Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Single of the Year for “The Fall” and Visual Media of the Year for “The Fall.” While these awards and accolades are of course meaningful to any artist, none of it compares to the love he gets from his greatest supporter of all, his wife Brandi. Here, read all about Cody Johnson and his wife.
Meet Cody Johnson and his wife, Brandi
Before Cody Johnson was an ACM-winning musician, he was actually a bull rider, and it was during this era of his life, while recovering from an accident, when he first caught the attention of his wife Brandi during a performance at a Future Farmers of America event—though they didn’t formally meet until years later after reuniting at a bar. In 2008, the couple tied the knot, and throughout his rise to fame, Johnson has been open about the impact his wife has had on his career, as well as the sacrifices she made that allowed him to pursue his dream.

“She had all the faith in me,” Johnson told Cowboys & Indians. “I compensated for my lack of confidence in a lot of bad ways. She recently said, ‘I always knew you would be this man. I knew this man was in that boy.’ What an intuitive woman. There are times I’ve wanted to quit music, in the last five years even. I’ve come home and said, ‘I’m done. I can’t do this anymore. It’s eating me up.’ And she’d say, ‘Yes you can. You got to. You’ve got to get back to work, have a better mindset and push through.’ And I did. If I had to give it all up for her, I’d do it.”
Who is ‘The Painter’ by Cody Johnson about?
Cody Johnson’s 2023 track “The Painter” illustrates a heartwarming picture, and the song serves as a tribute to his wife, her character, and all she’s given him over the years. “I have tried unintentionally—and intentionally—to build walls around myself a lot in my life because I’m a stubborn cowboy sometimes,” the singer told People. “And she saw potential. She saw growth. She saw opportunity. She saw me before I saw me. And without her I wouldn’t be here.”
Do Cody Johnson and his wife, Brandi, have kids?
Cody and his wife Brandi have three children, two daughters and a son, and they love the life they’ve built together as partners. As Cody Johnson steps into the spotlight at the ACM Awards, one thing is certain: win or lose, he’s already got the greatest prize of all—a love that believes in him, supports him and sees the best in him every single day.
