WLR has unveiled two new electric vehicles for its Street Team as the radio station gears up for its busiest summer ever in terms of outside broadcasts and live events.
The latest additions bring WLR’s electric fleet to four vehicles and reinforce the company’s commitment to sustainability.
This summer, the WLR Street Team and its solar powered Outside Broadcast Unit will travel thousands of kilometres, broadcasting live from some of the biggest events across Waterford City and County.
From the Spraoi Festival and the GAA World Games to the Tramore Racing Festival, All Together Now music festival and the Dungarvan Show, WLR will once again be at the heart of the action.
WLR will also broadcast from Waterford FC away games and Waterford GAA club games, offering live coverage throughout the season.
Its Outside Broadcast Unit is fitted with roof-mounted solar panels that help power equipment while reducing emissions and fuel consumption.
The two new Peugeot EVs were supplied by the team at T&C Motors in Waterford City.
“Our Journalists, presenters and Street Team are on the road every day during the summer, meeting listeners and bringing WLR to the biggest news stories and events across Waterford,” said Michael Byrne, CEO of WLR.

“We’re delighted to expand our electric fleet. Combined with our solar-powered Outside Broadcast Unit, these additions are helping us reduce our environmental impact while continuing to deliver the local coverage and community connection that WLR is known for.”
