Before booking, remember that the Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards program offers the ability to add a stopover of up to 14 days for free, so you can essentially get two trips for the price of one. And you can fly with Alaska Airlines’ extensive list of partner airlines, too.
For example, say you’re flying from Seattle to Sydney. A stopover would allow you to stop for a few days (or longer) in a city where you make a connection. So, in this case, a stopover could let you visit Honolulu on your way to Sydney.

Here’s another example, this time from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Sydney Airport (SYD). It includes a stopover at Fiji’s Nadi International Airport (NAN) and requires just 35,000 Atmos Rewards points plus $158 in taxes and fees.

That’s a fantastic deal for an international trip if you are willing to fly in economy.
How to book Atmos Rewards flights
Booking Atmos Rewards tickets is fairly straightforward. Simply visit the Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines website, then log in to your account and click the “Use points” box on the home screen. After, enter your desired itinerary before clicking “Search flights.”

As you can see in the example below, I was able to quickly find an award on Alaska Airlines’ new flight from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport (FCO) for just 25,000 Atmos Rewards points plus $6 in taxes and fees.

That is an incredible value.
How to earn Atmos Rewards points

There are multiple ways to earn Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards points. You can, of course, earn them by flying Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines. The carriers also partner with over 30 airlines, including (but not limited to) members of the Oneworld alliance.
Another quick way to accumulate points is to open one of Atmos Rewards’ cobranded credit cards:
- Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® credit card: Earn 3 points per dollar spent on eligible Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines purchases; 2 points per dollar spent on cable, at electric vehicle charging and gas stations, on local transit and ride-hailing services, and on select streaming services; and 1 point per dollar spent on all other eligible purchases.
- Atmos™ Rewards Visa Signature® Business Card: Earn 3 points per dollar spent on eligible Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines purchases; 2 points per dollar spent at EV charging and gas stations, on local transit and ride-hailing services, and on shipping purchases; and 1 point per dollar spent on all other eligible purchases.
- Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® credit card: Earn 3 points per dollar spent on eligible Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines purchases, eligible dining purchases and foreign transactions; and 1 point per dollar spent on all other eligible purchases.
You can even transfer Bilt Points to Atmos Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.
I’m particularly fond of earning points through Alaska Vacations bookings. Atmos Rewards members can access exclusive pricing on hotels, car rentals and more and earn 1 point per dollar spent at nearly 1 million properties worldwide. You’ll also earn 1,000 status points for every 3,000 points earned from Alaska Vacations purchases (excluding airfare).
Best credit cards to book Atmos Rewards award flights

Aside from the cards mentioned above, we also recommend using the following cards for Alaska Airlines purchases, as they offer elevated earnings on airfare purchases, including the taxes and fees charged on award tickets:
