Dublin Airport’s Record-Breaking July: What This Surging Traffic Means for Investors and Entrepreneurs

Dublin Airport had its busiest month ever in July as 3.8m people travelled through the airport, according to operator DAA.

A total of 3,839,635 people travelled through Dublin Airport last month, an increase of 2.3% year-on-year.

July is typically the peak month for summer travel, but this year’s numbers were helped by people travelling to North America for the FIFA World Cup.

The start of Ireland’s presidency of the European Council also stimulated traffic on some routes.

Passenger numbers have increased for the past 16 months, and 22m people have travelled through Dublin Airport this year to date, up 5.2% year-on-year.

The government officially lifted the annual 32m passenger cap at Dublin Airport last month.

However, as the cap had been suspended by the High Court pending a legal challenge, it had not been a factor in the airport’s 2025 passenger numbers.

“On average, around 123,000 passengers walked through our doors every day of July,” said Gary McLean, managing director of Dublin Airport.

“That’s the equivalent of one and a half times the capacity of Croke Park on All-Ireland final day passing through the airport in just one day, every day last month.

“This high level of traffic is now the norm during the peak summer period.”

Despite this, McLean said the vast majority of passengers travelled through airport security in under 20 minutes.

“This is testament to the hard work and dedication of our Dublin Airport teams, with thousands of people working 24/7 across the airport campus to deliver a smooth, safe and welcoming experience for the almost four million passengers who travelled in July.”
