PRIME VIDEO’S REACHER, the streamer’s take on author Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novels, works as well as it does for the same reason the character himself has been so endearing for such a long time: It keeps things simple. We like the big man named Jack Reacher (played so brilliantly by Alan Ritchson). We like to see him solve crimes and mysteries. We like to see him kick ass. And we like to see him be charming, charismatic, and never pick a fight that doesn’t deserve picking. These are all core aspects of the Reacher personality, and Reacher knows to highlight them all, year in and year out. Hell, even the title keeps things simple: Reacher. It packs as much of a punch as its leading man!
The show’s fourth season once again moves Reacher to a new locale, this time bringing the big guy to New York City, where he promptly gets involved in a fast-paced political cyber thriller, trying to figure out the mystery of a woman who took her own life on a subway car while in possession of a disk drive that all sorts of good guys, bad guys, and government agencies are all chasing after. This season’s story is based on Gone Tomorrow, Child’s 2009 Reacher adventure.
And again, as with previous seasons, Reacher is surrounded by a brand new cast of characters who viewers will assuredly get to know and love as the season unwinds. Season 4 may not have a literal giant for Reacher to face off against like it did with Olivier Richters’s Paulie in season 3, but it does add a few familiar faces to the ranks, including Christopher Marquette (who viewers may recognize from movies like Just Friends or Fanboys or shows like HBO’s Barry) and Kevin Corrigan (known for all sorts of great movie roles, including Pineapple Express, Goodfellas, and The Departed).
And, listen, folks. We know how addicting Reacher can be, and how fun it can be to watch. There aren’t many better ways to unwind after a long day of work than watching Alan Ritchson rip off a dryly hysterical one-liner and then punch a bad guy in the face. It is the best. And for that reason, we also know you won’t want to miss an episode.
So keep reading, and we’ll make it our job to ensure that doesn’t happen.
