Over a year after naked dresses were controversially banned at the Cannes Film Festival, see-through designs continue to be all the rage. Whether it’s Phoebe Bridgers wearing a lingerie-inspired gown at the Venice Film Festival, or Kaia Gerber exposing it all in a flapper-inspired sheath dress at the New York City premiere of The Shards, the stars are not letting the trend go. In fact, the naked dress has become so popular that now, naked shoes are popping up all over the runways, too.
Enter Daisy Edgar-Jones, who, in the midst of this see-through overload, still found a way to surprise us with an underwear-baring look.

On Wednesday evening, the English actor stepped out for a special screening and Q&A tied to her forthcoming film adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility. Held at the Whiteley in London, the event was attended by director Georgia Oakley and two of the movie’s stars—Esmé Creed-Miles and Edgar-Jones—the latter of whom made a striking statement in a transparent fit.
For the panel, Edgar-Jones wore a set from the Shushu/Tong Spring/Summer 2026 ready-to-wear collection, styled by Dani Michelle.

The ensemble began with a black, gossamer midi dress with short sleeves and a crew neckline. The piece was entirely see-through, save for some lacy floral motifs that dotted the fabric like tiny diamond-shaped bouquets. These romantic blossoms were contrasted a bit by the hems, which were cut with frayed lace for a subtly gothic touch.
Just like how it was presented on the runway, the most striking element of the entire look was the bubblegum-pink brassiere and matching panties that were layered underneath. While many “naked” looks are completed with coordinating undergarments, or even nothing at all, the Y2K pink added a playful, unexpected pop of fun.

Of course, with such a strong color story, Edgar-Jones didn’t need anything flashy to accessorize the look. So, she simply rounded it out with a set of black pumps with rosettes decorating the vamp, which acted as the perfect complement to her dress.
While it might have seemed at first as if Edgar-Jones was going to lean into method dressing for this press tour, she’s clearly not afraid to throw in a few decidedly modern curveballs, too.
