It’s wild to think that the first PlayStation hit shelves more than thirty years ago. For those of us who were PS1 diehards in a Nintendo-dominated world, our time has finally come: Lego just released a life-size replica. This is the latest in a string of nostalgic consoles that Lego has created. The now-retired sets for the Atari 2600 and the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) are hard to find—not to mention expensive on the resale market. The Nintendo Game Boy is still available, but it sold out fast last year and was backordered for months. So if you’re looking to put this vintage-looking Lego set next to your PS5, I recommend ordering it immediately.

This one is a Lego.com exclusive, so if you see it elsewhere on the internet, you’re likely looking at a reseller’s overpriced listing. I know that shopping at Lego is less convenient than shopping at Amazon, but Lego has a free Insider membership that allows you to earn points toward future Lego purchases. It’s not as glamorous as airline miles, but it works the same way and you might as well get some benefit from purchasing this $180 set.

The Lego PS1 and controller set looks pretty realistic, because it’s a nearly 1:1 scale model, measuring 2.5 inches tall and 10.5 inches long. Arguably the best part isn’t just the attention to detail on the exterior, but what’s on the inside.

When you press the open button, the top pops up and reveals dioramas of Gran Turismo and Ape Escape. The Gran Turismo diorama even has mini cars ready to race. If you want to display the dioramas, you can slide them out of the console.

The total build is just under 2,000 pieces. Even if you haven’t built a Lego set in thirty years, this moderate build should be fairly easy to complete in a few hours. If you’re not great at paper instructions, there’s a builder app that shows the pieces in 3D to show you which pieces go where.

This set just dropped today, October 4, though Insiders had early access (yet another reason to join). It’s likely going to be one of the more coveted Lego sets for the holidays, and while it won’t be as competitive as scoring a PS5, it might be harder to get your hands on than you anticipate.

And if the Lego Playstation has inspired you to go down the rabbit hole to see what other classic gaming sets you’re missing, I’ve highlighted some that can help you create your own Lego game room.
