Arachas has announced the acquisition of Dublin insurance broker Ben McArdle Ltd. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Established in 1964 and now run by John McArdle, son of the founder, Sandyford-based Ben McArdle Ltd operates in general insurance and has a nationwide client base.

The business has a separate trading branch in Northern Ireland, which is complementary to Arachas parent group Ardonagh’s activities in that market.

McArdle and his team operate a high-quality book of commercial lines business, with a stellar reputation for customer service, with many loyal clients who have trusted them for decades.

The latest accounts for Ben McArdle Ltd show the company made a profit of €150,638 in 2024 and that the company employs nine staff.

Following the acquisition, McArdle will continue to work with Arachas to ensure a smooth transition for staff and clients.

“Since my father established the business in Mount Street Lower, Dublin, we have built a strong reputation in South Dublin and across our specialist sectors,” said McArdle.

“This marks a new phase for the business and becoming part of Ireland’s largest nationwide broker means we can offer our customers even greater support, resources, and access to a wider range of products. It also allows us to maintain the personal touch that is so valued by our clients.”

Arachas has grown steadily over the past 20 years to become Ireland’s largest nationwide insurance broker, and the deal marks another milestone in its expansion.
