  • REI’s annual Labor Day sale is running from August 22 through September 1.
  • Save nearly 70% on premium brands like Patagonia, Hoka, Yeti, and On.
  • REI Co-op members can save an additional 20% on one REI outlet item.

LABOR DAY IS right around the corner, and although we mourn the looming unofficial end of summer, there are some perks. Labor Day sales are officially on our radar, and one of our favorite annual events is back. REI’s Labor Day sale is one of its biggest of the year, and if you’re looking to score nearly 70 percent off outdoor gear, men’s clothing, and shoes, there’s still time for last licks.

The sale isn’t limited to REI Co-op members, either (although we highly recommend becoming one). Labor Day deals are geared towards—but obviously not limited to—campers, hikers, and general outdoor enthusiasts who could use an upgrade before the weather starts to turn. REI Co-op members have it even better—save an additional 20 percent off of already-marked-down REI Outlet items (limit one per member). REI Co-op Mastercard holders can also earn 5 percent rewards on all purchases, including sale items, during the event.

Better yet, some seriously high-end brands are getting in on the action, including Patagonia, Yeti, Vuori, Osprey, and more. We included some of our favorite picks from this go-around, but feel free to shop the entire sale below at your leisure.

Whether you’re looking to upgrade your summer wardrobe or refresh your lineup of camping gear, there are plenty of deals to go around. Take 21 percent off the Vuori Strato Tech Polo Shirt, a versatile option that doubles as both office apparel and casual wear. For something a little more rugged (not to mention, inexpensive), the high-performance Vuoui Uluwatu UPF T-Shirt is a full 50 percent off throughout the sale.

If you’re looking to gear up ahead of fall/winter, the classic Patagonia Better Sweater 1/4-Zip Fleece is 30 percent off in select styles and sizes. The breathable, durable Arc’teryx Atom Insulated Hoody is also a cool (no pun intended) 30 percent off.

There are also plenty of shoe options to love. Take 25 percent off the editor-approved On Cloudsurfer Next. The similarly editor-tested Hoka Arahi 7, which offer streamlined support and breathable flat-knit uppers, are now almost 20 percent off. One of our favorite recovery shoes, the Brooks Ghost Max 2, is also nearly 20 percent off for a limited time. If you’re looking for a new pair of hiking boots, the waterproof Merrell Moab 3 Hiking Shoes are now 30 percent off and available for under $100.

We mustn’t forget about camping gear, either. The Yeti Rambler Vacuum Travel Mug, which rarely goes on sale, is now 22 percent off, while the large-capacity Osprey Talon 36 Pack is now 25 percent off. You can also take 30 percent off the Sea to Summit Ether Light XT Insulated Sleeping Pad, which features two distinct forms of insulation.

How to Use an REI Co-op Membership

Being an REI Co-op member is a no-brainer if you’re a regular, which most of us here at Men’s Health are. For a one-time fee of just $30, you can get exclusive access to perks like REI’s Re/Supply used gear program, 20 percent off of bike and snow shop services, unlimited free shipping, 10 percent givebacks on qualifying purchases, special pricing on classes and events, and much, much more.

You can essentially recoup your investment in one fell swoop. If you nab, say, a $150 item from REI Outlet as a Co-op member, you’ll immediately save the equivalent of the cost of the $30 buy-in. Yes, it’s that simple.

If you want to maximize your savings this time around—or during REI’s other tentpole events, like its Anniversary Sale, you’re also in better shape in the long run.
