When it comes to her red-carpet beauty styling, Love Story star Sarah Pidgeon has seamlessly embodied the art of easy romance, often wearing loose, undone waves with radiant skin and pared-back makeup. But at last night’s Time100 Next Gala in New York City, there was a notable shift in the actress’s hair look in favor of bouncy, bountiful volume.
Pidgeon’s ’90s supermodel-inspired look was crafted by celebrity makeup artist Charlie Riddle and hairstylist DJ Quintero using Living Proof essentials. “I love a good blowout, and this look is all about volume, movement, and that effortless, sexy hair that never goes out of style,” he says in a statement. “Think soft, touchable layers, lots of body, and a little bit of that ’90s supermodel energy.”
Quintero laid the foundation for sky-high volume by applying Living Proof’s Full Texturizing Foam to the star’s damp, towel-dried hair. He next used the brand’s Full Volume & Root-Lifting Spray near Pidgeon’s scalp, focusing on the crown and around her face for enhanced lift. “Using a round brush and blow-dryer, I worked in sections, lifting the hair up and away from the scalp,” the stylist explains. “I like to really overdirect the hair at the crown to create that beautiful, airy volume.”
Once the hair was completely dry, he reached for a large-barrel curling iron to create the shape of Pidgeon’s springy curls, adding soft bends throughout the mid-length and ends of her hair, alternating directions, and keeping the sections around her face curled away from it. To ensure the actress’s style lasted all night, Quintero used several pin curls to lock the look in place and allowed them to cool before brushing them out for a soft, bouncy finish.
After gently brushing through Pidgeon’s curls, he used Living Proof’s No Frizz Invisible Oil to tame hair flyaways and frizz while boosting its shine. “I love this part because it’s where the hair really comes to life,” he explains. “You get that gorgeous, full shape with soft, flowing layers.” Quintero applied the Style Lab Flex Hairspray as a finishing touch for lasting hold, along with its Full Dry Volume & Texture Spray throughout the crown and layers of the star’s hair for extra volume. “The result is big, beautiful, bouncy hair that feels soft, looks healthy, and moves effortlessly,” he adds.
