Gigi Hadid just proved, once again, that she truly is her own best model. Attending the Madison Ave store opening of her knitwear brand, Guest in Residence, the founder was photographed wearing a full fall fit—with warm browns, cozy tartans, and more than one statement piece.
Naturally, Hadid built the look around a skirt from her own collection. The choice was a plaid jacquard midi in shades of brown and light pink, crafted from a wool-cashmere blend and finished with knitted fringe down the side. The warmth of the blanket-like fabric was contrasted by the number’s wrap silhouette, which created a slit down the side that provided extra breathability—perfect for this in-between, hot-and-cold weather.
The model wore the piece with a low scoop-neck halter top that reached just above her belly button, revealing a sliver of midriff. She layered a brown leather jacket over the tank, designed with a boxy silhouette, drop shoulders, and pointy lapels. Taking a page from her sister Bella, she matched the outerwear to a worn-in pair of two-tone cowboy boots, with buckle detailing and gold-toned metal cap toes.
And for an extra statement, Hadid grabbed a flower pot… or rather the Moschino “Planter” bag. Introduced in the 1990s, the vintage novelty piece was dreamed up to resemble a brown pot planted with hot-pink flowers, with realistic green leaves and all.
At one point, she swapped the bag for a festive cake, decorated with a plaid pattern similar to the one on her skirt.
