In its very first year, it snagged a spot in the 2024 gadget awards, and honestly, it’s not hard to see why. This isn’t just some flashy screen; it’s an impressive blend of style and substance that looks fantastic, sounds great, and — get this — doesn’t charge you extra for displaying art. Sure, the art selection isn’t exactly the Louvre, but sometimes less is more, right? Plus, it’s powered by Google TV — easy to set up, reliable, and even gamer-friendly with a slick 144 Hz refresh rate to keep those consoles humming. For the price and the perks, it’s probably the best bang for your buck if you want an art TV that actually works as a TV, too. So, what’s the catch? Well, the matte coating dims the punch a bit, and it’s no Frame Pro in sheer class or contrast. In its inaugural year on the market, the Hisense CanvasTV really impressed us, enough to make it into the 2024 gadget awards. We still think this is the sweet spot when it comes to art TVs. It looks and sounds fantastic, the setup is way more streamlined than The Frame, and you don’t have to pay for the art. Although, the selection is more limited than the full Art Store library of over 2,000 works.

CanvasTV is a Google TV, which is becoming our OS of choice due to the easy setup and consistent performance. Plus, the Canvas even offers a 144 Hz refresh rate mode for gaming with low latency. I’ll admit that gaming on an frame TV isn’t really the point, but of the three this is the only one I’d recommend for art TV buyers who have a console at home. We only wish we had the convenience of the Samsung OCB with the picture quality of the Canvas.

In our tests, we found this to be the best looking art TV for the money, technically falling short of the Frame Pro, but for half it’s cost. Compared to the 2025 ULED, it lacks in punch due to the matte coating. The brightness is really dialed down and the contrast suffers compares to the brand’s similarly priced mini LED TVs.

Right now on Amazon, you can get a 65-inch for the same price as this 55-inch. That’s a pretty damn good deal!
