American Express has rolled out an updated experience in its app that makes it easier for its top-tier cardmembers to find, enroll in and track their statement credits and benefits.

It’s a helpful update if you’ve ever lost track of which credits you’ve used or wondered which ones require activation.

This updated tool is currently available for those with the The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express. It has been rolled out alongside the refresh of the personal and business cards, both of which offer new statement credits and perks.

It also comes on the heels of the launch of the all-new Amex Travel app, which helps travelers discover destinations, plan trips and even check wait times at Centurion Lounges before their flight.

Together, these updates signal a broader push by Amex to modernize its digital experience and make premium travel and shopping perks easier to use.

How to find your Platinum benefits in the app

Open the American Express app for iOS or Android. Click on the “Membership” tab, choose your Platinum card and click on “Explore Benefits.”

There, you’ll see a list of statement credits and perks available on your card.

Each benefit shows how much you’ve used and how much is left for the current period, whether it’s monthly, quarterly, biannual or annual. This makes it easy to see which credits you might want to use before they expire.

You can see from the screenshots below that I need to use my (new) up-to-$300 biannual hotel statement credit, I’ve got $5 left on my (enhanced) digital entertainment statement credit for this month (now up-to-$25 per month), and I haven’t yet used the (new) up-to-$75 quarterly Lululemon credit (available to use at U.S. stores, excluding outlets, and online) for the third quarter.

Enrollment is required for select benefits.

If a benefit requires activation, you’ll see “Enrollment Required.” Tapping the tile will activate the benefit so you can start earning the statement credit or enjoying the perk.

You can see above that I haven’t yet enrolled in Marriott Gold status (because I have Platinum status through another card) and that I need to enroll in Leaders Club Sterling status with The Leading Hotels of the World.

What you’ll see on the Business Platinum

The same experience is available for Business Platinum cardmembers. The interface looks similar to the personal version but highlights different benefits, like Indeed (up to $360 in statement credits per year, enrollment required) and U.S. wireless services statement credits Up to $120 per year, enrollment required). These also show how much you’ve used and how much remains.

Having this information in one place can be particularly useful for small-business owners who want to make sure they’re not leaving value on the table.

What isn’t included

For now, this feature only seems to be available on Platinum-branded cards.

Cobranded cards, like Delta Air Lines and Hilton cards, currently don’t show a list of their benefits or track progress toward statement credits in the app. This means you’ll still need to keep your own records or rely on statement postings for those products.

For example, I haven’t used my up-to-$200 biannual Hilton resorts statement credit for the second half of the year yet, but I have used my up-to-$50 flight statement credit for this quarter on my Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card — yet neither has a spending tracker on the Amex app.

It’s possible American Express will expand this feature to other cards in the future, but for now, it’s a Platinum-only perk.

A quick note on the new Amex Travel app

American Express has also launched a new Amex Travel app for iOS (with an Android version expected in October).

Separate from the main Amex app, it’s designed to help cardmembers plan trips, explore destinations and see real-time wait times at Centurion Lounge locations.

It doesn’t show your benefits or credits, but it can be a useful companion when you’re traveling and planning trips.

Bottom line

The updated American Express app makes it much easier to enroll in and keep track of your Platinum card benefits.

By showing your available statement credits, how much you’ve used and how often they reset, the app helps ensure you don’t miss out on valuable perks you can receive in exchange for paying a high annual fee.

If you hold the Platinum or Business Platinum, it’s worth opening the app to see which benefits you might not be maximizing.
