Level Health Drops the Price Bombshell – Here’s Why Rivals’ Hikes Just Made This Move Inevitable!

Ever noticed how when everyone else is hiking prices, there’s always that one guy who decides to hit pause? Well, Level Health just pulled that move, freezing their health insurance prices right through January, even as other insurers crank up the costs. It’s like they’re throwing a lifeline to folks juggling budgets in these squeezed times. And here’s the kicker—they’re not just freezing prices; they’re slashing premiums by half for kids under 18 on certain plans. It’s a bold stand in a market where predictability feels like a luxury. CEO Jim Dowdall isn’t just playing defense either—he’s calling out the government for dropping the ball on tax relief, which could’ve saved families some serious cash. So, is Level Health setting a new pace for what real value in health insurance looks like? Let’s dig in. LEARN MORE

Level Health has announced it is freezing prices until the end of January following price hikes by a number of major health insurers.

The Aviva-backed company will keep all prices at current levels and offer 50% of all kinds on its Plan B and Plan C until 1 February.

Jim Dowdall, CEO of Level Health, said the decision was being taken to offer customers more certainty and predictability over the coming months.

“Unlike other health insurers, Level Health is focused on continuously delivering real value to our customers,” said Dowdall.

“Level Health customers also benefit from a number of great policy extras such as free health insurance for kids under the age of three, free multi-trip world-wide travel insurance for all Level Health members and exclusive discounts on home insurance (50%) and motor insurance (15%) with our partner Aviva.

“To support our customers even more during the current challenging economic times, Level Health is freezing its prices to the 1st of February 2026, while also offering 50% off all premiums for children under the age of 18 on plans B & C.

“This will provide our customers with more certainty of their costs over the coming months – a key period when so many people are renewing their health insurance cover.”

Level Health also blamed the government for not reinstating full tax relief on health insurance premiums in Budget 2026 for recent price increases.

Based on the average adult premium of €1,830, Level Health estimated that the tax relief would have saved customers an average of €166 per adult.

“The government must recognise that people investing their own money in health insurance cover are also removing a huge burden from the public health system,” said Dowdall.

“If they did not do this, the public health system would collapse. By failing to restore the tax relief on full health insurance premiums, the government missed a very targeted opportunity to help cushion the cost burden on households.

“We strongly believe that full tax relief on the cost of health insurance should be reinstated, and Level Health will continue to advocate for the implementation of this measure on behalf of all health insurance customers.”
