How VOYA Crushed the B Corp Certification on Round One – The Game-Changer Every CEO Needs to Know Now

Ever wondered if luxury skincare could actually do the planet some good? Well, here’s a curveball — VOYA, the Irish seaweed skincare powerhouse, just nailed B Corp certification on their very first go. Yeah, the gold standard for sustainable and socially impactful businesses, where scoring 80+ on their brutal impact test is no joke. These folks from Sligo, inspired by old-school seaweed bathing vibes, aren’t just slapping seaweed on your face. They hand-harvest it responsibly, protect biodiversity, and even use it to soak up carbon — talk about skincare with a conscience. Plus, they’re obsessing over eco-friendly packaging that breaks down naturally. It’s no surprise Emirates just extended their partnership to 2029. VOYA’s story isn’t just about beauty — it’s about proving you can run a killer business that’s kind to people and the planet. Curious how they pulled off this rare feat? Dive in. LEARN MORE

VOYA, the luxury organic Irish seaweed skincare brand, has achieved B Corp status, the world’s leading sustainability and social impact accreditation.

B Corp certification verifies a company’s entire social and environmental performance across governance, workers, community, customers and impact on the planet.

Businesses must score a minimum of 80/100 in B Lab’s rigorous impact assessment to attain B Corp certification.

Sligo-based VOYA achieved a passing grade on the first attempt, which is a rare feat in the certification process.

VOYA was co-founded in 2006 by husband-and-wife team Mark and Kira Walton, inspired by the centuries-old tradition of seaweed bathing in Strandhill, Co Sligo.

The company continues to hand-harvest seaweed to protect regrowth, preserve biodiversity and harness the seaweed’s ability to act as a natural carbon sink.

VOYA is also committed to using environmentally responsible materials in its products and packaging, including recycled, recyclable, biodegradable, and glass options, to reduce waste.

Its carton packaging board is a special blend of FSC-certified pulps using VOYA’s own harvested seaweed, and its packing chips are 100% biodegradable and dissolve in water.

VOYA recently renewed its supply deal with airline Emirates to 2029.

B Corp status also recognises VOYA’s efforts to partner with local suppliers and to create a positive, inclusive workplace.

“From day one, our mission was to prove that beauty could be both luxurious and kind,” said Mark Walton.

“Achieving B Corp certification on our very first attempt is not only a proud milestone for us, but also confirmation that the principles we founded VOYA on; respect for nature, care for our people, and uncompromising quality.

“These commitments are as strong today as they were when we began. We are delighted to join this extraordinary global community of businesses driving positive change, and proud to fly the flag for Irish sustainability leadership on the world stage.”

Kira Walton added: “Ireland’s coastline and natural resources are our greatest inspiration. We are passionate about protecting them for future generations while bringing the benefits of seaweed-based wellness to people worldwide.

“Becoming a B Corp is recognition of our team’s hard work and our commitment to sustainability, community and ethical growth. This is a huge milestone for us but believe me we still have big dreams and plans ahead!”
