But in recent months, the Fleetwood Mac rumor mill has started up again, as Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined forces once more to re-release their 1973 record, Buckingham Nicks earlier this year.

Will there be a ‘Rumours’ 50^th anniversary reunion?

2027 marks 50 years since one of the most successful albums ever was released. Rumours was created from the ashes of broken relationships and other personal turmoil from the lives of the Fleetwood Mac members, but the end result was something that never could have been predicted.

Now, rumors (not the album) are flying about the remaining Fleetwood Mac Members—Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie—coming back together for a TV special, a one-night only concert and a special edition version of the album, which will allegedly feature tracks from the vault.

According to The Sun, a source close to Mick Fleetwood shared that there are talks about these special projects.

“Fleetwood Mac are discussing new projects and how to mark Rumours’ big 5-0,” the source said. “For certain there is a special edition version of the album coming, which the band and label have been secretly looking at… But also, there is a significant hope that it is time for the definitive documentary on all the chaos in the studio that created the magic on record.”

None of the band members have commented on the 50^th anniversary plans but with the ceasefire between Buckingham and Nicks, it seems a reunion is more likely than before.

Rumours soared from the moment it was released. The album flew to the No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200 chart and remained there for a total of 31 weeks. It also scored the band their only Grammy award for Album of the Year and was one of only 13 albums to reach Double Diamond status, a certification for records that have sold or streamed the equivalent of 20 million units in the US, by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA),

The record produced memorable songs like “Dreams,” their only No. 1 song, “Go Your Own Way,” “The Chain” and “Silver Springs,” all of which are still extremely popular today. This era for Fleetwood Mac even inspired the successful novel and subsequent hit series, Daisy Jones and the Six, which sparked a resurgence in the band’s music.
