When does ‘Bridgerton’ season 4 premiere on Netflix?
The fourth season will premiere on Netflix in two parts with four episodes each. The first half will be released on January 29, 2026, with the final four episodes dropping on February 26.
Benedict Bridgerton’s Cinderella love story explained
Benedict’s love story has been written since Julia Quinn’s novel, An Offer from a Gentleman, was first published in 2001. The novel follows a Cinderella-style plot, as Benedict meets a masked woman and only knows her as the Lady in Silver.
As the daughter of an earl and his maid, Sophie Beckett is used to an unfair life, being raised by her stepmother and stepsisters. But when she sneaks into a Bridgerton ball, she immediately falls for Benedict—though she knows it’s unrealistic as she needs to get home before the clock strikes midnight.
It seems the series will follow a very similar plot with the synopsis for the fourth season reading: “The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict (Luke Thompson). Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down—until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”

How Bridgerton season 4 differs from the books
Although the plot of both the novel and the season seem to be very similar, there is one major change that could affect the story. If you’ve read the books, you might think you know what to expect from Benedict’s love story this season.
But a huge change between the books and the series is the order in which the storylines unfold. Julia Quinn’s novels were released in a specific order. starting in 2000. The first focused on Daphne, followed by Anthony, then Benedict, Colin, Eloise, Francesca, Hyacinth and Gregory.
However, the series made an interesting change when the creators/producers decided to share Colin and Penelope’s story before Benedict’s. Although this could mean no change for the plot other than the order in which it unfolds, it could have consequences to the original storyline.
The show runners made the decision to switch the order of the stories because of the growing tension between Colin and Penelope in previous seasons. They wanted to be sure the story satisfied the audience and kept fans engaged throughout the series.
Another difference from Benedict’s story in the book vs. the show is that he never has a love interest in the novels prior to his story with Sophie. In previous seasons of the show, however, Benedict engages in relationships with multiple women and men, including Lady Tilley Arnold, her friend Paul and Genevieve De Coq.
Mark your calendars for January 29, 2026, when season 4 of Bridgerton premieres and Benedict’s love story begins to unfold.
