Isn’t it something when a beloved celebrity steps out from behind the curtains of silence to share her truth? Blake Lively did just that on April 3, taking to her Instagram stories to address the latest chapter in her legal battle with her It Ends With Us co-star, Justin Baldoni. Now, I don’t know about you, but when I heard that 10 out of 13 claims were dismissed, including the sexual harassment ones, I wondered—what’s left on the table, and more importantly, how does she keep her spirit so resilient? Well, Lively isn’t backing down; with breach of contract and retaliation claims still heading to trial in May, she’s gearing up to tell her story—not just for herself but for all who can’t. It’s a reminder to me, and maybe to you too, that standing up for a safe space isn’t just brave—it’s necessary. Curious how an actress with so much on the line stays hopeful and sharp? “I am grateful for the Court’s ruling which allows the heart of my case to be presented to a jury next month, and for the ability to finally tell my story in full at trial, for my own sake, but also for those who don’t have the same opportunity to… many of whom I have known and loved deeply in my life, and the countless I’ll never know,” she shared.

“The last thing I wanted in my life was a lawsuit, but I brought this case because of the pervasive RETALIATION I faced, and continued to, for privately and professionally asking for a safe working environment for myself and others,” she continued. “I know it’s a privilege to be able to stand up. I will not waste it.”

According to Lively’s attorney, Mike Gottlieb, the ruling regarding the harassment claims were dismissed ahead of trial due to “legal issues rather than an endorsement of the defendants’ conduct.”

“The court held that Ms. Lively’s sexual harassment claims could not go to a jury because Ms. Lively did not sign a contract, that she is an independent contractor instead of an employee, and that the offensive conduct occurred in New Jersey instead of California,” he explained.
