Venice Film Festival is officially over, and that means it’s time for the entertainment industry to fly across the Atlantic for the next lineup of premieres, red carpets, and events. And many—including Sydney Sweeney, Shailene Woodley, and Ryan Reynolds (in a Canadian Maple Leaf t-shirt)—already have.
On Thursday evening, Toronto Film Festival 2025 kicked off its 50th anniversary addition with the world premieres of Mile End Kicks starring Barbie Ferreira, the Reynolds-produced John Candy: I Like Me, and the highly anticipated Erupcja.
Directed by Pete Ohs, Erupcja is a sapphic drama exploring the relationship between a Polish florist and her childhood friend during a volcano eruption in Warsaw. Starring the one and only Charli XCX alongside Lena Góra, Jeremy O. Harris, and Will Madden, it serves as the Brat artist’s acting debut.
For such a monumental moment, she and stylist Chris Horan leaned into this new chapter of her career with a movie star-worthy look. Walking the red carpet at the premiere in a sheer slip (a classic Chanel LBD with an XCX twist), paired with a micro bag and gradient heeled satin pumps from the same house, she embraced an all-black look that was both daring and timeless. Keeping things monochrome, makeup artist Lilly Keys painted the star’s lower lash line with a smokey black liner, and hair stylist Clayton Hawkins gave her long dark hair a natural blowout that fell down to her chest. The rest of her makeup was simple, with a nude lip and thick brows to finish things off. Plus, later in the night, XCX pulled out a fur jacket for the Erupcja party, hosted by Don Julio.
