After years of delays, Euphoria, the HBO hit drama finally is finally returning to our screens. It’s safe to say that in two weeks we’re all gonna be locked-in on our screens, ready to see how what is rumored to be the show’s final season will play out.
Season 3 will meet our misfit cast of characters five years into the future, squareing them safely out of high school and college and into the beginning of their adult lives. Most of the main cast will be returning, including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, Sydney Sweeney, and Maude Apatow. Here, we’ve rounded up everything we know so far.
When will season 3 air?
Euphoria will officially return to our screens on April 12, 2026, four years after the release of season 2.
There are a few factors that have caused the significant delay in filming. Back in 2023, the writers’ strike paused production across the industry, and showrunner Sam Levinson was also focused on his and The Weeknd’s drama show, The Idol(which was canceled after one season).
Meanwhile, many of the stars of the show—like Zendaya, Sweeney, and Elordi—have been booked with back-to-back major projects, which could’ve made it harder to coordinate filming. Not to mention, Levinson insists on writing the entire show himself, which likely slows down the process as well.
Last December, HBO released six first look photos of the core cast back in action as well as a sneak peek at the new season in a sizzler reel for the network’s 2026 programming. You can see them all, below.
What will season 3 be about?
The first official trailer for the new season provides fans a first look at where the season three storyline is heading. So far, we’ve learned Cassie has become a cam-girl, Maddy is running a Hollywood harem, and Rue is heading south of the border with major debts to pay. Needless to say, we’re invested. Watch the latest trailer below:
There will be some buzzy guest stars.
Euphoria’s third season will feature a number of star-studded appearances for what’s likely to be the show’s final season: among the many confirmed to appear are Sharon Stone, Rosalía, Natasha Lyonne, A Different World’’ Kadeem Hardison, Super Bowl Champion Marshawn Lynch, and Trisha Paytas.
“If there’s anything that excites me as much as finding a good melody or a good lyric, it’s becoming a better performer every day,” she shared. “Euphoria has been my favorite series of the last few years and I couldn’t be happier and more grateful to be acting alongside all these colleagues that I admire so much and contributing my ‘granito de arena’ to bring Sam’s vision to reality. I can’t wait to share what we’re doing!”
Which cast members will return?
With the announcement of the production date, HBO also confirmed the return of the entire principal cast, which includes Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi, among others who will all reprise their characters for the show’s next installment. In October 2025, HBO confirmed that Dominic Fike, Alanna Ubach, Daeg Faerch, Melvin Bonez Estes, Nika King, Paula Marshall, Sophia Rose Wilson, and Zak Steiner will also reprise their roles. Barbie Ferreira, who portrayed Kat in the series, announced on Instagram, however, that she will not be reprising her role.
“After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye,” wrote Ferreira, per Variety. “I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez.”
The trailer confirms the return of Eric Dane as Cal Jacobs, in what is likely to be his final role since he’s recent passing last month.
As for new characters, HBO has recruited a bevy of stars for its third season, including Danielle Deadwyler, and Eli Roth. Others rounding out the cast include Bella Podaras, Bill Bodner, Cailyn Rice, Colleen Camp, Gideon Adlon, Hemky Madera, Homer Gere, Jack Topalian, Jessica Blair Herman, Kwame Patterson, Madison Thompson, Matthew Willig, Rebecca Pidgeon, and Sam Trammell.
The soundtrack will be a little bit different.
Last year it was revealed that Labrinth would return to work on the music he indelibly shaped for seasons 1 and 2 of the show. But earlier this month, things took a turn when the artist posted on Instagram, distancing himself from the show and the record company that releases the soundtrack; adding “I’m out. Thank you and good night.”
Also last year, it was revealed by HBO that renowned composer Hans Zimmer would be joining the series, though that does not appear to be the cause for the rift. At the time of the announcement, Labrinth released a statement which read “Another chapter in the Euphoria universe! So great to join Hans, one of my heroes in film score, and bring some new magic to this new season.”
It remains to be seen whether Labrinth’s music appears in the latest season.
Will the characters still be in high school?
Many of our questions about East Highland High have gone unanswered (When do these kids go to class? How big is the drama club’s budget?), but season 3 will at least lead the characters toward life post-graduation.
“The one thing we all agreed on is we can’t go back to high school—although many, many shows have had 30-year-old high school students, we’re not,” Levinson said during a recent event in London, per The Hollywood Reporter. “Five years felt like a natural place [to jump] because if they had gone to college they’d be out of college at that time.”
Levinson also shared what kinds of storylines we can expect from our main characters. At the start of season 3, Rue will be picked up south of the border in Mexico indebted to Laurie, “trying to come up with some very innovative ways to pay it off.”
Meanwhile, Cassie is engaged to Nate. “Cassie is living in the suburbs with Nate,” Levinson said. “They’re engaged, and she’s very addicted to social media and envious of what appears to be the big lives that all of her high school classmates are living at this point in time.”
Jules is now in art school and “very nervous about having a career as a painter and trying to avoid responsibility at all costs.” Maddie is making a name for herself as a manager at a talent agency in Hollywood, though she does have “her own side hustles,” and Lexi works as an assistant to a TV mogul played by Sharon Stone.
