Northern Ireland’s FastHouse has acquired the Monaghan-based Century timber frame business from Kingspan, which will retain a minority shareholding.

With the finalisation of the deal, FastHouse will double its production capacity to 3,000 homes and increase its workforce to over 380.

“We are delighted to welcome Century’s dedicated team and excellent facilities to our business,” said Peter Lagan, chair of FastHouse.

“Their exemplary manufacturing capabilities complement our operations, supporting our ability to deliver quality housing and enabling us to play a key role in tackling the housing challenges in Ireland.

“Backed by an experienced construction family and bolstered by this strong timber frame manufacturing legacy, FastHouse is poised for an exciting new chapter of expansion and innovation.”

Colin Clements, managing director of FastHouse, added: “This will significantly expand our capacity and enhance our capabilities.

“As the housing crisis continues to present challenges across the island, this investment allows us to respond with speed and scale to support the delivery of high-quality, affordable homes that drive economic growth whilst also meeting sustainability goals.”

FastHouse designs, manufactures and installs timber frame structures, and the company works with major developers such as Cairn Homes, Lagan Homes and D/RES Properties.

Timber frames facilitate off-site construction to precise specifications while minimising waste and improving sustainability.

Timber frame has long been used in construction globally; the modernisation of this construction method through the use of high-quality factory-based processes and automation enables FastHouse to offer strong sustainability and performance benefits.
