FDA Drops Bombshell: Which Celsius Energy Drinks Are Secretly Packing Alcohol? Find Out Before You Sip!
- The FDA issued a warning to consumers that certain High Noon cases might have a Celsius can inside containing alcohol.
- The recall comes after a factory mixup where the wrong cans ended up at a High Noon facility.
- Here’s what you need to know, and how this may affect you.
High Noon fans might be in for a surprise when they open up a case of the brand’s Beach Variety pack. Thanks to a factory mixup, the company, which sells spiked seltzer, is recalling select cases after mislabeled cans said they contained Celsius Astro Vibe Energy Drink, Sparkling Blue Razz Edition, when they were actually filled with an alcoholic High Noon beverage.
Generally, people aren’t psyched about accidentally drinking a cocktail before hitting the gym or heading in to work. But the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is now involved and issuing warnings to consumers. Here’s what happened, plus how to know if your drinks have been affected by the recall.
Why is there a Celsius recall?
The recall began after High Noon discovered that its can supplier—which also provides cans for Celsius energy drinks—accidentally shipped empty Celsius cans to High Noon, according to the FDA’s recall alert.
Somehow, no one caught this mix-up, and the Celsius cans were filled with High Noon, before being shipped out to consumers in a High Noon Beach Variety Pack.
Which cans does this affect?
The recall impacts just two lots of High Noon’s Beach Variety Pack (which includes the Peach, Kiwi, Raspberry, and Lemon flavors). Notably, this recall does not impact all of High Noon’s Beach Variety pack. The UPC number on affected packs is
085000040065, per the FDA’s alert. The lot codes, which are on the outside of the pack, are:
- L CCC 17JL25 14:00 to L CCC 17JL25 23:59
- L CCC 18JL25 00:00 to L CCC 18JL25 03:00
The packs were shipped to these states between July 21 and July 23, according to the FDA:
- Florida
- Michigan
- New York
- Ohio
- Oklahoma
- South Carolina
- Virginia
- Wisconsin
What should I do if I get a can with High Noon instead of Celsius?
The FDA is urging people who have cans of Celsius Astro Vibe Energy Drink, Sparkling Blue Razz Edition to check if they’re impacted by the recall. Recalled Celsius cans have the UPC number 8 89392 00134 1 and lot code L CCB 02JL25 2:55 to L CCB 02JL25 3:11, which is visible on the bottom of the can.
If you do have a recalled can, the FDA recommends that you don’t drink it and throw it out. And, if you bought one of the High Noon Beach Variety packs that was affected, the FDA recommends contacting High Noon Consumer Relations at [email protected] to get more information on next steps, including refunds.
No one has gotten sick or had any negative side effects from the mix-up, per the FDA.
