Taylor Swift could not stop smiling during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon as she recalled the moment her beau, Travis Kelce, got down on one knee to ask her to marry him.

At the start of the chat—which comes as part of her press run for her her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl—Fallon asked the pop singer if Kelce actually proposed right after the two filmed the much-awaited joint episode of his New Heights podcast.

Swift confirmed that indeed happened, and admitted that she should have known something was off, because the NFL star was acting quite strange as they got ready to film the podcast chat.

She recalled how Kelce began pacing around the house, saying his heart was racing and he was so nervous. And he installed blackout drapes on every single window of the whole house. “I’d never seen this dude nervous,” Swift said. “He’s a professional non-nervous person.”

Of course, looking back, it’s evident Kelce covered the windows to keep Swift in the dark about what was going on outside: His entire backyard was being transformed into a magical fairy garden (with the singer’s tour photographer hiding in the bushes) ready for him to propose to her.

“I think for Travis, the podcast was just sort of like a distraction, a sort of ruse, to keep me not looking out the windows of the house,” Swift told Fallon, flashing her gleaming diamond engagement ring.

The couple announced their engagement some days later via a joint Instagram post. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” they wrote at the time alongside photos of the big moment.

During her interviews over the past four days, Swift has revealed that she and Kelce are not set on their wedding details just yet, as they’re still very busy with their respective projects and they just got engaged. But we’ll know when we know.
