Last night, New York Film Festival kicked off with a special North American premiere of After the Hunt, the latest project by Italian director Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, Challengers). The psychological thriller, which stars Julia Roberts as a professor forced to confront her past after a student (Ayo Edebiri) accuses her colleague (Andrew Garfield) of sexual assault, made its official debut at Venice Film Festival last month, before heading stateside for Friday’s opening event.
For the special occasion, Roberts tapped Andreas Kronthaler of Vivienne Westwood for a striking wide-leg suit. The Fall/Winter 2025 blue-gray set featured a single-button blazer with rounded patch pockets and exaggerated lapels, layered over a dress shirt. Matching trousers fell all the way to the red carpet, hiding Roberts’ shoes and creating a dramatic, gown-like effect. Printed with an all-over written motif in pink, the tailored suit looked as playful and fresh as it did sophisticated (and professor-approved).
Sandwiched between the blazer and shirt, Roberts and her stylist Elizabeth Stewart added a light blue tie to the look, covered in chunky vintage brooches from Raven Fine Jewelers. The pair completed the fit with Sabyasachi earrings.
Earlier in the day, Roberts stepped out in a midi shirt dress courtesy of Khaite, with slits down each leg and a long, skinny black tie. On her feet, she wore lace-up Jimmy Choo heels, and in her hand, she carried a matching Manu Atelier bag. Her nails, also black, tied it all together.
