Lidl Ireland has confirmed the opening date for their newest store in Dunboyne, Co. Meath.

Both Meath Vice Captain Mary Kate Lunch and Meath Senior Dunboyne player Katie Bermingham have been lined up to cut the ribbon at the official opening at 8am on Thursday 11 September.

Early bird shoppers will get the chance to meet the players and enjoy special in-store entertainment at the official opening ceremony next week.

The first ten customers will each receive a gift voucher to spend in the shop.

In addition, the Dunboyne store team will donate €1,000 in Lidl vouchers to local charity Dunboyne Community Centre, which offers classes, event spaces and summer camps for the community.

The new store will create 30 new permanent jobs for the area, and it takes the retailer’s Meath store count to eight, increasing Lidl’s county workforce to 170 employees.

With a sales floor area of 1,409 square metres, shoppers can enjoy a spacious and premium shopping experience in the modern store featuring a wide range of amenities, including two Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) machines, self-service checkouts, customer toilets, baby-changing facilities and out of home (OOH) parcel lockers.

The store, which is located on the town’s Main Street, also features a bakery and an off-licence.

It will also include a certified Energy Management System, high-performing energy-efficient technologies and solar panels, as part of the retailer’s ongoing sustainability efforts.

Regional property director at Lidl Ireland Brian Smyth said: “We’re delighted to confirm the opening date for Lidl Dunboyne and welcome local shoppers to this exciting and modern new store to benefit from the market-leading quality and value that Lidl offers more than 15 million weekly shoppers across the country.

“We are grateful to the local community and wider businesses in Dunboyne for their support in realising this project which represents a significant local investment of more than €12m whilst also creating 30 new jobs for the local area.

“As we further embed Lidl within the community, we look forward to the wider investment which we can continue to bring to the area, building on our local supplier relationships and providing further support for students and girls and women in sport through our long-standing partnership with the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, as well as delivering for carers through our charity partnership with Family Carers Ireland.”
