Lioness Season 3: The Shocking Secrets and Twists That Could Change Everything—Are You Ready?
Almost a year has zipped by since the intense finale of Lioness season 2 left us tangled in chaos at the border—but guess what? The Taylor Sheridan CIA thriller is back in the game, officially renewed for season 3. Now, I’m all for high-stakes spy drama, but with season 2’s whirlwind involving Mexican cartels, kidnapped congresswomen, child trafficking, and even whispered plots about China and Taiwan, I can’t help but wonder—what kind of wild multilevel conspiracy will they dream up next? Could a simple stolen bicycle really turn into a nuclear code smuggle across North Korea? Knowing Lioness, I wouldn’t bet against it. With Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman returning as both stars and executive producers, and Paramount scheduling juggling acts behind the scenes, it’s clear the story’s far from over. Buckle up—season 3 is shaping up to ignite even more twists and turns. LEARN MORE
It’s been nearly a year since the Lioness season 2 finale ended its story of chaos at the border, but the Taylor Sheridan CIA drama is now officially renewed for season 3. The Hollywood Reporter stated that Paramount delayed the announcement until it could settle on a solid film schedule for Zoe Saldaña (Avatar: Fire and Ash) and Nicole Kidman (Babygirl), who will both return for season 3.
There’s no word yet on Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly, or Laysla De Oliveira, but Saldaña and Kidman are both executive producers on the CIA drama. The Sheridan series was a hit for viewers last fall, with The Wrap reporting that the season 2 premiere garnered over 12.4 million viewers. Kidman received a 2024 Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Lioness also earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Stunt Coordination.
It’s tough to pinpoint where Lioness could head next. Season 2 sent the team on a mission that involved Mexican cartels, the kidnapping of a U.S. congresswoman, child-trafficking rings, and even … China’s plan to invade Taiwan? Given the current state of the world, I almost dread the new multilevel conspiracy that the series will come up with next. A random stolen bicycle could morph into Russians smuggling nuclear codes across the North Korean demarcation line in the blink of an eye. Knowing Lioness, it probably will. Will Lioness Return for Season 3?
Yes! Paramount just confirmed the news. There’s no timeline yet for when Lioness will return for season 3, but I have yet to see Sheridan shaft one of his own shows. This fall, fans will see the release of Tulsa King season 3, Mayor of Kingstown season 5, and Landman season 2. Following Dutton Ranch, The Madison, and Y: Marshals, I’d expect Lioness to drop later in 2026.
Zoe Saldaña told Vanity Fair last year that she is “signed up for three seasons at least,” so viewers somewhat expected a return. Still, many fans theorized that Cruz (De Oliveira) would take over the program at the end of season 2 so that Joe (Saldaña) could spend more time with her family. That’s still a possibility! It may just take one more season before she’s ready.
