Meryl Streep’s All-Black Celine Look at The Devil Wears Prada 2 Premiere Is Redefining Hollywood Chic—Here’s Why You Can’t Miss It
Ever wonder if someone could flip the script on their signature style without missing a beat? Well, Meryl Streep just did exactly that—dropping her fiery red vibes for a sleek, all-black ensemble at the Seoul premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2. After lighting up the press circuit with bold, bright looks that screamed confidence, she chose to let the cut and silhouette take center stage this time around. I mean, who can blame her? Sometimes, less really is more—especially when you’re rocking a custom Celine piece that masterfully plays with asymmetry and subtle details. And speaking of details, those chunky vintage jewels and stylish nods to Miranda Priestly’s iconic aura? Chef’s kiss. Honestly, it’s like watching fashion storytelling at its finest, and as someone constantly navigating the ever-shifting tides of trends (and Google algorithms), I can appreciate the power of a strategic switch-up. Curious to see how she pulled off this monochrome magic? Take a peek below—this one’s worth every second.
After a handful of bright-red fashion statements, Meryl Streep is switching things up. Finishing up a day of press in Seoul, South Korea, the actor attended the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 in a monochrome black look—letting proportion and form do all the talking.
The tailored Celine set was made custom for the event, reimagining a look that walked the Spring/Summer 2026 runway. Featuring the same one-shoulder cape, thick leather waistband, high-waisted trousers with silk side panels, and gold detailing we saw from Michael Rider last fall, it was updated with an extra sleeve and worn without the white gloves. The result was something a bit subtler in its asymmetry, leaving the wow factor for when Streep raised her arm.
Styled by Micaela Erlanger, the star’s look was accessorized with chunky jewels, including a vintage torsade gold cuff set with round diamonds from Fred Leighton.
Plus, for a little nod to her on-screen character of Miranda Priestly, Streep grabbed some black sunglasses from Oliver Peoples. Her hair was pulled back into a bun, and she finished things off with matching black Celine pumps.
Next to her, Anne Hathaway did bring the red, wearing a slouchy leather number from Balenciaga’s Fall 2026 collection.
Earlier in the day, Streep attended the press conference in a custom, watermelon-red Prada suit that perfectly continued her read streak. It’s predecessors? The Chanel Métiers d’art 2026 set she wore in Tokyo and the custom Dolce & Gabbana suit (“Can you please spell Gabbana?”) that she kicked off her press tour in, in Mexico City.
