Olivia Rodrigo’s Third Album: The Game-Changer Every Music and Fitness Fan Didn’t See Coming!

Olivia Rodrigo just dropped a subtle yet sparkling hint last August—a glittering ‘3’ on her graphic tee at Osheaga, signaling the end of her GUTS era and the dawn of OR3. Now, after three-and-a-half long years since her last album, the world’s buzzing with anticipation. But what really sets this upcoming project apart? Is it the shift from her usual purple to a pale pink palette, or maybe the “sad love songs” that explore the thrill and terror of romantic fear? As the “Vampire” star teases her new sound and style on her own terms, I can’t help but wonder—will OR3 redefine what we expect from Olivia, or simply deepen the emotional well we’ve come to crave? Let’s dig into all the clues and details rolling out before the big reveal. LEARN MORE.

Last August, Olivia Rodrigo appeared onstage at Osheaga music festival wearing one of her signature graphic tees. This one, however, was bedazzled with a sparkly ‘3’ in the middle, sending a clear message to her fans that the GUTS era was wrapping up—and a new chapter was about to begin.

It’s been three-and-a-half years since the release of Rodrigo’s last studio album, and the world has been (somewhat) patiently awaiting her next. Since the subtle announcement, the public was quick to read into every little hint the she may have dropped about her third studio album, better known as OR3. Whether wearing shades of pink instead of her usual purple or posting cryptic symbols of luck, everything the “Vampire” star did seemed to set off a spirited easter egg hunt. But now, she’s started talking about her forthcoming record on her own terms.

As await the album’s release, Harper’s Bazaar breaks down everything to know about the project below.

When will it be released?

There is no officially release date yet, but something is certainly coming in April. In London, a heart-shaped lock with a new, swirly version of Rodrigo’s “OR” logo was found—with “April” written on the side.

What is the album’s signature color?

Unlike Rodrigo’s first two albums, SOUR and GUTS, OR3 will (most likely) not be drenched in purple. In Los Angeles, a mural featuring the updated version of her logo progressively lightened from purple to pink day after day. Similarly, on her website, the background was swapped to a light bubblegum shade.

This change has been echoed in her fashion choices, too. Most recently, she attended the Oscars Vanity Fair after-party in a custom pale-pink Saint Laurent minidress, and before that, she sat front row at the Chloé Fall 2026 show in the same shade.

What is the album about?

One of the first fan theories surrounding OR3 was that the title, following her classic preference for four-letter words, would be Love. While we don’t yet know the title, we do know that love will have something to do with the project.

Speaking to British Vogue, Rodrigo shared that the album is full of “sad love songs”—exploring the fear and anxiety that comes along with love. “I realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them,” she said.

There’s a song inspired by Miranda and Steve’s relationship in Sex and the City, and one that she calls “what I think being in love feels like.”

Her best friend, Madison Hu, listened to the project and echoed these sentiments—sharing that to her, it’s about how “love is complicated.” Continuing, she said, “I think that’s what she learnt this year.”

When did she finish recording it?

On February 24, Rodrigo’s longtime producer Dan Nigro shared a photo from the studio captioned “Finishing records…” The artist herself commented on the post, writing, “the palpable stress in this photo hahahha.”
