Launching a fashion line was always part of Sofia Richie Grainge’s plan. “This has been my dream. This has been my goal, and it’s always just been a matter of when I felt it was the right time,” Grainge tells me. That time is now, as the model, mother, and consummate It girl launches SRG Atelier today.
Grainge worked closely with Revolve and Fwrd to launch the robust collection, which includes over 50 pieces for a complete wardrobe for anyone looking to emulate Grainge’s polished yet relaxed style.
“I feel like I learned a lot. I studied these brilliant minds, and I just watched and observed, but mainly I discovered myself throughout the process, and now I’m in a space where I feel really confident,” she says. “I am married, I am a mom, and I just know aesthetically with fashion what I want and how I want to portray it to a consumer.”
And while Grainge’s personal style may lean more grownup and sleek, she designed SRG to accommodate every version of herself—and her customers.
“It’s important to be still young and fun and sexy if that’s what you want to be,” she says. “I also wear many different hats. So that was definitely in my mind when I was envisioning this brand, making sure that I was creating a collection that could be for women who wear many different hats, and also a sophisticated, high-end brand that’s young and fun and just something that people can feel confident and lively in.”
The collection is full of sumptuous fall-ready fabrics like suede and leather. There are every day pieces, like minimalist scarf coats and suede skirts, as well as dressier evening dresses and asymmetrically cut blouses that you can dress down with a pair of jeans or up with a leather midi. Prints are kept to a minimum, limited to just a zebra print and a spotted deer print. “I think the core of SRG atelier is timeless, classic, and I want to say youthful. I don’t want people to feel like just because maybe it’s a bit more covered, that it’s not still young, and fun, and sexy.”
Adds Grainge, “I made this collection for women to feel empowered and to feel confident and amazing in what they wear every day. And it’s important to me that people feel like the best version of themselves when they get dressed, whether it’s in my clothing or someone else’s clothing. I really hope that people can feel confident and strong in these items of clothing. That is why I’m doing this.”
