The Invisible Battle: How Men Are Secretly Fighting Body Image Pressures and Winning Against All Odds
Even though men may not talk about it openly, research shows that up to 40% of men are dissatisfied with their bodies. For some, this leads to excessive workouts, restrictive dieting, or even steroid use. For others, it shows up as anxiety, depression, or social withdrawal—especially in places like gyms, locker rooms, or while dating.
What makes this more challenging is that many men feel they don’t have “permission” to struggle with these feelings. It’s not uncommon for a guy to tell me in session, “I feel like I shouldn’t care this much about how I look.” But the truth is, body image is a human issue—not just a women’s issue.
