The Unexpected Reason Travis Kelce Was a No-Show at Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s Star-Studded Wedding Revealed!
When Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco throw a wedding, you know it’s going to be a star-studded affair — but here’s the kicker: Taylor Swift showed up to celebrate, yet her fiancé, NFL powerhouse Travis Kelce, was nowhere to be seen. Now, doesn’t that spark the question — can love survive the clash of red carpets and red zones? This Santa Barbara celebration wasn’t just any party; it was a carefully curated spectacle, complete with exclusive venues like the El Encanto hotel and a scenic Pacific Ocean backdrop. Swift’s slick, almost incognito arrival amid umbrellas was the kind of subtlety that screams “pro at work,” especially given Kelce’s gridiron commitments keeping him miles away as the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to battle the Baltimore Ravens. It’s fascinating how these two worlds — showbiz glam and rugged sports hustle — dance around each other, sometimes in sync and sometimes missing a beat. As we peel back the layers of this glam fest, consider this: How do mega stars juggle personal milestones with demanding careers forever in the spotlight? Dive into the full breakup of Selena and Benny’s epic wedding weekend and Swift’s low-key but meaningful presence. LEARN MORE
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s wedding weekend has been full of celebrity appearances. In addition to her Only Murders in the Building costars—Martin Short, Steve Martin, Paul Rudd—famous friends such as Paris Hilton, Ed Sheeran, and Taylor Swift made their way to Santa Barbara for the special nuptials.
The couple, who rented out the El Encanto hotel for their guests, hosted a rehearsal dinner Friday evening to kick off the festivities. The ceremony itself took place at the Sea Crest Nursery plantation, a private estate in Goleta, California, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Missing, however, was Swift’s own fiancé, NFL player Travis Kelce.
The singer—who announced her own engagement to Kelce on Instagram a month ago—has been friends with Gomez for 17 years, after the two met backstage at a Jonas Brothers concert in 2008. Over the years, the two have supported one another through it all, and Gomez has even referred to the “Fortnight” singer as her only friend in the music industry.
A week before the release of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, Swift showed up today to celebrate her friend’s big day—seemingly sneaking into the festivities under a handful of umbrellas.
Kelce, however, had to stay back due to his Kansas City Chiefs schedule, as the team is set to play against the Baltimore Ravens tomorrow, Sunday, in Kansas City, Missouri.
While we would have loved to see Swift and Kelce at Gomez’s wedding—giving us a preview at their own—we wish him luck on his big game tomorrow.
