Unlock 2026’s Biggest Blockbusters: The 87 Movies That’ll Shape Your Year + 12 Hidden Gems You Can’t Miss!
Ever notice how movies have this magical superpower? No matter how wild or unpredictable life gets—take being a die-hard New York Jets fan, for instance, where hope sometimes feels like a rare commodity—there’s always a flick on the horizon to spark that excitement. Sure, not every movie will knock your socks off, but isn’t that thrilling gamble part of the fun? After the brilliant streak of films in 2025, ranging from the gritty “One Battle After Another” to the haunting “Sinners,” 2026 is already flexing some serious cinematic muscle. January, often infamous for forgettable flicks, surprised us with gems like the post-apocalyptic punch of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and the quirky horror delight Primate. And with directors like Sam Raimi making a comeback, plus February packing blockbusters starring the likes of Margot Robbie, it’s shaping up to be quite the ride. So, what’s on your movie radar this year? Dive in, because I’ve rounded up nearly 100 titles that might just be the highlight you’re craving. Fingers crossed, they live up to the buzz! LEARN MORE

AS A HUGE fan and follower of both movies and sports, the former has one major advantage: There’s always something to look forward to. As a fan of the New York Jets, I don’t always have that luxury. As a fan of watching films, though, not only is there always something worth my time on the big screen or streaming, but there’s always several flicks down the line that will sound great or intriguing for one reason or another. Will they all turn out great? Of course not. But with sports and movies alike, excitement tends to be all about hope.
After a particularly strong 2025—movies like One Battle After Another and Sinners proved to be true standouts—how does 2026 pick up? With strength and energy, that’s how. While January is traditionally a dumping ground for sub-par movies and silly schlock, this year we were treated by an absolute banger of a post-apocalyptic sequel (in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple), a super fun silly slasher about a killer chimpanzee (Primate), and a return-to-form for one of our favorite directors doing exactly what he does best (Sam Raimi’s Send Help). And that’s not even counting an expansion in theaters for some of our favorite movies of late 2025 like No Other Choice and The Testament of Ann Lee. Believe it or not, January 2026 is a great time for the movies.
And if January is looking that good, the rest of the year should hopefully be able to follow suit. February comes with a number of blockbusters of its own (including the Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi-led Wuthering Heights) and the return of another one of our favorite directors, with the great Pirates of the Caribbean helmer Gore Verbinski returning with Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, his first movie since 2016’s A Cure for Wellness. Again—this is really good stuff for the movies.
We always like to start the year looking at everything coming out in the year to come. That includes everything: Stuff on the calendar already, stuff we suspect will come out this year, and even stuff making noise in places like the Sundance Film Festival. This list will eventually evolve into our list charting the year’s best movies, and, inevitably it will look quite different by the end of the year compared to how it looks now.
For now, we’ve got quite a lot to look forward to. Below, we’ve listed nearly 100 movies on our radar that we think you’ll be really interested in seeing. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll get lucky and they’ll turn out to be as great as they already might be in our minds.
