#2 Spanish Pond Loop Trail at Fort Caroline (For Families/Beginners)
This Atlantic Beach loop has plenty to offer for new hikers and sight-seers alike. Along the path, you can observe:
- Timucuan shell mounds
- An abandoned carbon
- An overlook over a salt marsh
- Confederate soldier’s gravesite
These attractions make this trail an excellent place to entertain kids with a scavenger hunt. As for the path itself, the trail features mostly natural terrain—dirt and sand—with some boardwalks to assist with access. That said, it’s not ideal for those using wheelchairs or smaller children who need a stroller.
