Unlock Style and Strength: The 13 Must-Have Belts Every Man’s Wardrobe Is Missing
Ever noticed how a simple belt can tell a story? I mean, picture yourself watching an old Sergio Leone western like Once Upon a Time in the West—every rugged cowboy strapped with a belt that’s big, sturdy, and unapologetically classic. It got me thinking… why did this unapologetic rectangle-buckled belt fade out of everyday style only to become a symbol of the Wild West? These belts, probably crafted from full-grain leather, were the backbone of men’s fashion up until the ’70s, and honestly, the shape still holds a timeless appeal that’s both flattering and functional. So, who’s nailing this vintage comeback with authenticity and durability? For me, it’s RRL—Ralph Lauren’s virtuoso brand that captures the essence of classic Americana menswear with a rugged twist that screams longevity. If you’re craving something less run-of-the-mill, they’ve got you covered with studded and even biker-inspired styles that marry heritage with today’s bold flair. Intrigued by how a belt can go from forgotten relic to modern-day style statement? Dive in and discover more. LEARN MORE

Watch any old western. This weekend, my wife and I did Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in the West. (My number one, for what it’s worth.) Every guy in those movies is wearing a belt like this. They’re big, thick, and probably made from full-grain leather, and they all have a rectangular center buckle. Up until about the ’70s, all men’s belts just looked like this. Now it has a western connotation, but it’s generally just a flattering and functional shape.
Anyway, who makes the best version of this long-forgotten belt? RRL, of course. Ralph Lauren’s best venture, in my opinion, is RRL. The brand is the best resource for all classic American menswear. It’s surplus, work wear, and vintage inspired, and it’s all made to last. This belt is maybe my favorite example.
If you want something more out-there, I’d recommend this studded belt, this logo studded belt, or this biker-inspired woven one. The uniting theme in RRL is classic Americana, but these all look even sicker in modern-day America.
