Most polycarbonate suitcases look pretty run-of-the-mill, with shiny, plasticky shells. The Carl Friedrik Carry-On X, on the other hand, shows off a bit of old-world craftsmanship – it looks as if wainscoting has been wrapped around the exterior of the suitcase.
Instead of zippers, the Carry-On X has a full aluminum frame with hinges and two locking latches. This design is two-fold: It makes the suitcase more protective and secure, but also makes it look and feel more high-end. The latches are made out of solid cast aluminum, and I love the satisfying click when they snap shut.
