MacNeill’s portrayal of Ned Gowan in Blood of My Blood is special, and the actor depicts the special friendship he shares with Ellen MacKenzie in a way that makes you root for him wholeheartedly. Serving as the MacKenzie’s legal and financial advisor, Ned is wise, loyal and if you’ve seen Outlander, you know that he never loses that piece of himself.

5. Seamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie

Our complicated feelings toward Colum MacKenzie at this point in time might impact the way we look at him as a whole, but Seamus McLean Ross’ depiction of the MacKenzie clan laird puts him on this list of Blood of My Blood hunks nonetheless.

4. Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie

Dougal’s meddling in Ellen’s personal and romantic life for the sake of the clan is entirely frustrating, but the adorable Sam Retford is hardly as menacing as his fictional counterpart. The dark-haired, brooding war chieftain is tough and determined, and while his actions tend to drive us crazy sometimes, his good looks certainly help his cause.

“I’m not too closely related to Dougal, but I could connect to his passion for identity, belonging, internal fire and energy,” Sam Retford told Humble Magazine of bringing his character to life.

3. Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons

Rory Alexander brings to life the young Murtagh Fitzgibbons, and there’s something about this actor’s performance in this role that just tugs on your heart strings. Perhaps it’s the sympathy we feel for him watching him pine over Ellen, unaware that she’s fallen for Brian, or maybe it’s just Rory Alexander’s sweet demeanor, but whatever it is, he’s earned a top spot in our list of Blood of My Blood hunks.

2. Jeremy Irvine as Henry Beauchamp

Jeremy Irvine brings to life Claire’s father Henry, and aside from his charm and good looks, his dedication to finding his wife, Julia, is everything. With each passing week, our anticipation grows stronger and stronger as we await the day they are reunited.

“He is this fundamentally very brave and heroic man, but he’s also very damaged mentally and struggling with PTSD,” said Jeremy Irvine of his character in conversation with Luxury London. “While he has this tough exterior, he’s very romantic and vulnerable. I just saw that there was so much I could stick my teeth into and so many different ways I could go with him.”

1. Jamie Roy as Brian Fraser

Though it’s almost impossible to choose between Brian and Henry, as these two leads bring their all, knowing that Brian is the father of the original Outlander hunk Jamie Fraser just gives him the slightest edge. Brian is brave, romantic, and while we love to see him interact with Ellen, there’s also a sweetness in the way he looks out for and protects Julia when he can.

“Brian is fiercely loyal, brave, and cunning, but above all else, a romantic at heart,” Jamie told Numéro Netherlands
