Taylor Swift gave Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast its best day in history today as a new episode, starring the superstar, debuted. And apart from dropping baskets of Easter eggs for us to overanalyze about her upcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, Swift also graced us with plenty of romance.
Swift’s appearance on the podcast was announced in a teaser clip shared on Monday on New Heights’s Instagram. In it, the singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end display some of their so high school dynamic, with Swift complimenting Travis’s blue hoodie, saying “Such a nice color on you,” and him flirtatiously responding, “It’s the color of your eyes, sweetie. It’s why we match so well.”
During the full sit-down chat, we got our first real, close-up look at Swift and Travis’s chemistry, and let us tell you, it’s freaking adorable.
The couple joked around, cussed around, laughed around, and flirted plenty. Scroll to read our recap.
First, they talked about how they started dating.
“This podcast got me a boyfriend… ever since Travis decided to use it as his personal dating app about two years ago,” Swift joked, nodding to the moment Travis went on his podcast to say that he had attended Swift’s Eras Tour show and made her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, but she still refused to see him. (Swift clarified that he never made any real effort to speak to her team and see her.)
“He threw a man tantrum,” the singer joked. “It was such a wild, romantic gesture to just be like, ‘I wanna date you!’ This dude didn’t get a meet-and-greet and he made it everyone’s problem. He didn’t even reach out to our management,” she said, noting that the football star simply thought he could get to where Swift was in the stadium because he “knows the elevator lady.”
Swift continued, mimicking Travis: “‘I made you a friendship bracelet, do you wanna date me?’”
After that, Swift explained, “everyone who likes [Travis], started reaching out to everyone who knows me,” and so the two quickly connected.
She recalled: “I was like, if this guy isn’t crazy—which is a big if—this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.”
“I was listening,” Travis said with a smile.
“How did you know he wasn’t crazy?” Jason asked.
“He is crazy. He’s the good kind of crazy,” Swift said, explaining that the way they got to know each other was “very natural, very pure, very normal,” and he made her “laugh so immediately.”
Swift later described her boyfriend as “non-judgemental” and a “human exclamation point.”
Travis recalled falling in love with Taylor.
“I’ve never experienced something so mesmerizing on stage and so real and so beautiful in person,” he said to her, adding, “I felt like I’ve know you forever,” and telling Jason, “She makes me so much better.”
Then, they showed how obsessed they are with each other.
As Swift said words like esoteric and effervescence, Travis closed his eyes and said, “She’s so hot when she says big words.”
He also called her “the greatest songwriter of all time” and the “smartest woman in the world.”
“Says her boyfriend,” Swift replied while stroking his cheek.
“Says a lot of people,” Jason reminded her.
Swift also gushed about her beau. “Look at him. And he’s so fast and he can jump so high,” she said, complementing him.
The couple even talked about their Florida summer with family post-Eras Tour and post-Super Bowl. “It’s a hell of a drug,” Swift said, winking to her song “Florida.”
And when confronted with their differences, they pointed out how similar they really are. “On paper, we have similar jobs. Our job is to entertain people for three-plus hours in football stadiums,” Swift said, causing Travis to break out in nods and laughter.
Travis admitted he’s a big fan of her music.
The NFL star recommended some Taylor Swift playlists, much to Swift’s surprise. “You’ve been streaming?” she asked him. “Yeah, I’ve been streaming for about two years,” he answered.
He even showed how not jealous he is about her 1989 album, famously inspired by Swift’s then-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. “And if you make a second 1989, I’ll listen to that too,” Travis said with a smile.
The two also spoke about Swift’s upcoming 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl. “It’s a lot more upbeat,” Travis noted. “Yeah. Life is more upbeat,” Swift said, as the two gave each other googly eyes.
Numerology was discussed.
“I’m 87 and she’s 13, and together we make 100,” Travis explained to his brother. “That’s numerology,” Swift added.
“And we keep it 100,” Kelce added.
“I’ve also always loved the number 13. What does that mean?” Jason asked. “It means we’re family,” Swift replied.
They spoke about their life together.
Like never before, Swift and Travis gave details about their daily life together, at home—hinting not-so-subtly that they live together.
They talked about the pop superstar’s newfound obsession with baking sourdough, and Travis said with a smile, “I’m the luckiest man in the world.”
And Swift even listed her boyfriend’s green flags: “Huge green flag is that he’s had the same friend since he was probably four years old,” the singer said. “Green flag: not threatened by other guys.”
They also spoke of their time with their friends and their families. No engagement was discussed, but Swifties, this feels like endgame.
“I love this new world that Travis has shown me. It’s so fun. It’s so exciting,” Swift said, turning to him. “You manifested it. You summoned me—here I am.”
Sigh. No one’s ever had [her], not like this.
