On Victoria Beckham’s new self-titled Netflix series, she sets out to put the record straight.

Victoria Beckham is a three-part documentary that charts the life of the Spice Girls star-turned luxury fashion designer, touching on many facets of her life, from motherhood to marriage and more.

At times, the self-produced docuseries reads as a neatly-curated slice of Victoria’s life, but there are moments where she displays true candor, like an instance when she explains why she always looks “moody” in photos.

“Here’s a fact,” the designer begins, in a clip from the show that she shared to her Instagram account earlier this week. (In the caption, she joked: “Truth’s finally out! @DavidBeckham 😂 x Victoria Beckham out on @netflixuk now.”)

In the video, Victoria explains that whichever side she poses on determines how her smile comes across in photos. As she gestures to her husband, she says: “I’ve looked miserable for all these years because when we stand on the red carpet, this guy has always gone on the left. Okay? Now, I didn’t realize that when I smile—which I do—I smile from the left ’cause if I smile from the right, I look unwell.”

“I’m not gonna be in this,” David cuts in, walking away as Victoria continues talking to the camera.

But she doesn’t let up, driving her point home by adding: “So, consequently I’m smiling. I’m smiling on the inside, but no one ever sees it. So, that’s why I look so moody.”
