The 2025 Earthshot Prize Awards are set to take place in Rio de Janeiro on November 5, but Princess Kate likely won’t be joining her husband, Prince William, as he travels across the world to oversee it.
For the fifth iteration of his nature-focused event, the Prince of Wales will bring the ceremony to Brazil, where five winners will be awarded £1 million each for their innovative solutions to protecting the environment.
After founding the prize in 2020, William was accompanied by Kate for the first in-person ceremony in London back in 2021, and she showed up the following year too, when the event traveled to Boston.

However, she was unable to make the ceremony in 2023, due to reports that she was helping Prince George prepare for final exams. Then, the princess understandably shied away from public duties last year, as she recovered from a recent cancer diagnosis.
Now, although the Princess of Wales is in remission, she’s got something else keeping her busy: a new move.
Next month, the Wales family plans to transfer their lives to a “forever home”—called Forest Lodge—nestled within a similar area of Windsor Great Park that they’ve been residing in since 2022.
As she packs up all their things, Kate will also be taking care of her and William’s three kids—Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7—as they’re currently enjoying a half-term break from Lambrook School.
Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales will be heading straight from the Earthshot ceremony to a UN climate conference in Belém, Brazil, meaning he wouldn’t be able to travel back with Kate regardless.
