My co-worker Jiamin, the Lead for operations and servicing at Havend vibe-coded a tool to help you have a good idea about the healthcare subsidies that you would enjoy as a Singaporean.
Jiamin hates the limelight, but I am promoting it here because I think it is a pretty nifty and useful tool and appreciate her effort.
I kind of think of these tools as educational experiences and the biggest benefit is what you learn or how you can make better decisions next time.
But Kyith how much can all these subsidies amount to?
Then you put in your numbers and you can find out lor.

Sometimes we need to be reminded of the first time you feel when you finally understand what does topping up CPF does, or the amount of retirement income that you can get with what you potentially have in your CPF.
Most of us are healthy and sometimes these stuff will only hit you when you go in and out of hospital one time and two time. Or you bring your parents there one time and two time.
Some of us has an affinity towards something, like me with this idea about income planning. Jiamin has a strong affinity towards understanding about these things to figure out the degree of significance of all these subsidies, government initiatives to alleviate the lives of the middle income families.
Those are the people around her.
More so, its to answer questions such as can we live some sensible lives with the current setup.
Vibe-coding sounds easy until you really look at the code. They end up providing information that does not make sense all the time. So you need someone who is really into these stuff, who understands roughly the subsidies, yet also understands code to make the thing come up with something usable.
You also need to roughly know what does useful look like.
What Jiamin did has a lot of potential but by right, she shouldn’t be the one to do this.
The government should.
They freaking list a whole bunch of subsidies all over the place and expect us to understand the significance of all this.
I think this is the potential that the government could do.
If any government people are reading this, hope this gives you some inspiration.
Access the SG Healthcare Subsidy Checker
You can access the application here >>
You will need a Google account to do this.
The app does not ask for your personal information but you need to put in information that matches your current profile.
What the SG Healthcare Subsidy Check Does
Jiamin’s subsidy checker gives you an overview of the kind of healthcare subsidies that you would enjoy.
I will kind of go through.

Under your profile, you kind of need to fill in the information about
- Singapore Citizen / Permanent Resident
- Birth Year
- Household Monthly Income
- How many family members
- The value of your home.
- How many properties you own.
I guess this also is the start of your education. How much subsidies that you enjoy is determine by these things.

You can see… I really don’t enjoy any subsidy whether is the premiums for CareShield Life, or any home care giving grant.

However if I choose to go to a government hospital or community hospital and stay there, I get 50% subsidy. I get some small CHAS GP Clinic subsidy but none of the nursing home and long term care subsidy.
Some of these categories might be foreign to you, and Jiamin have provide more information about them, but also link you to more information about the subsidies.

This panel shows how much subsidy I get if I go to one of those government specialist center and drugs.
One of the inputs that I made to Jiamin was that I have no idea WTF is SOC Subsidy and High Cost (MAF) and if I don’t know, I also don’t know the impact of this number.
So she kindly thought about how to keep it neat and concise but also make the information neatly accessible.

Finally, no Medishield Life premium subsidy.
What Happens if I Don’t Have Income any More?
I think that is where a quick check like this helps you profile the differences.

Careshield Life Premium subsidy go from 0% to 30%.

Hospital Subsidies go from 50% to 80%.

Nursing home and long term care subsidy shoots up to 75%.
The CHAS stuff also comes alive!

Higher specialist and standard drugs subsidies.
And High cost cancer drugs go from 0% to 75%
If My Dad Were Alive
The SG Healthcare Subsidy Check can also pick up the subsidies if you belong to the Pioneer or Merdeka generation:
