Beyond Yoga Workout: The Surprising Truth That Shakes the Women’s Health World—What You Need to Know Before You Try It
Ever wonder why some activewear brands just seem to have that magic touch—making you feel like you’re wrapped in a cloud, whether you’re smashing a Pilates session or just running errands? Beyond Yoga is one of those rare labels that’s earned a cult following for its buttery-soft Spacedye fabric, a game-changer in comfort and style. As someone who’s constantly juggling workouts, walks, and daily hustle, finding a top that transitions effortlessly from gym mode to street style without feeling like you’re still in workout gear is like striking gold. I’ve been putting Beyond Yoga’s Spacedye Slim Racerback Cropped Tank through its paces, testing its comfort, support, and style in every scenario imaginable—and trust me, this isn’t your average tank. Ready to discover if it lives up to the hype and could be your next closet MVP?
There are a few brands that dominate the activewear scene—like lululemon and Alo Yoga—but Beyond Yoga has built a cult-following of its own in recent years. The LA-based label, founded in 2005, is best known for its Spacedye fabric—aka that buttery-soft material that editors and gym-goers can’t get enough of. I’ve been a longtime fan of the brand’s leggings (as have plenty of Women’s Health editors), and the Spacedye Slim Racerback Cropped Tank has also become a staple in my closet, too.

As someone who’s constantly toggling between workouts, long walks, and just…life, I’m always looking for pieces that can do a little bit of everything. I want something I can wear to Pilates, keep on for a hot girl walk, and then throw on with sweats for errands without feeling like I’m still in gym mode. So, naturally, I put this tank through its paces to see if it could live up to the best overall title in our workout tops guide.
How I Tested the Beyond Yoga Workout Top
As the associate style and reviews editor at Women’s Health, I’ve tested my fair share of activewear, workout tanks, and tees included. Since compiling my guide to the best workout tops, I’ve been wearing this tank on repeat for a few months, rotating it through low-impact workouts like yoga and Pilates, daily walks, and plenty of off-duty moments in between. I paid attention to how it felt during sweat and movement, how supportive the built-in bra actually is, and how well it held up after multiple washes. I also experimented with styling it a few different ways—both for workouts and everyday wear—to see just how much closet mileage it can get.
It’s Unbelievably Soft.
Beyond Yoga is best-known for its famously soft Spacedye fabric, which is why WH editors (myself included) are obsessed with their Spacedye Leggings. Luckily, this tank delivers that same level of comfort. Made from the brand’s signature blend of polyester and elastane, it’s buttery, stretchy, and genuinely one of the most comfortable workout tops I’ve worn. That’s because it actually has a lower percentage of elastane compared to other fabric blends from brands like Alo, Vuori, and lululemon. It’s still enough to make the fabric stretchy, but not so much that it compromises on softness. It has that barely-there feel while still offering a bit of hold, so I never feel restricted or squeezed in. It feels like I’m wearing nothing at all, but it still keeps the girls in place with a medium-level compression—a big reason why I keep coming back to this top.
It’s Supportive—but Best for Low-Impact Days.
The built-in bra is a major plus, especially if you prefer an all-in-one situation—but it does come with some limitations. For smaller chests, it’s likely enough on its own for most workouts. As a C cup, I find it offers enough support for low-impact workouts like yoga, Pilates, or walking, but I layer a sports bra underneath for anything higher-impact, like running or a HIIT class. That said, for everyday movement or slower-paced workouts, it’s supportive enough to keep me feeling secure, but still light and flexible without that overly compressive feel. If you want more support, I recommend the On Performance Flex Bra, which took home the title of our best sporta bra, and looks super cute layered under this tank in a coordinating color.
It Transitions Seamlessly Beyond the Gym.
This is one of those rare workout tops that I actually want to wear outside of the gym or studio. It’s moisture-wicking enough to handle hot days and sweaty sessions, but it also looks sleek enough for everyday wear. The tank’s cropped cut and racerback silhouette give it that clean, flattering shape that makes it feel more like a core wardrobe piece than just another gym top. I’ve been styling my Nocturnal Navy tank with Beyond Yoga’s Fade Out Sweatpant and Fade Out Full-Zip Hoodie in the Washed Navy colorway and always get tons of compliments (yes, even on the day I wore this fit to the office!). For warm weather workouts, I pair it with the brand’s matching Solemate Short.
Final Verdict
If comfort is your top priority, the Spacedye Slim Racerback Cropped Tank is hard to beat. The Spacedye fabric alone makes it worth the buy, and the built-in bra, moderate support, plus versatile styling options only add to the appeal. Just keep in mind that if you have a larger chest or plan on doing high-impact workouts, you may want to layer it with a sports bra for extra support. Otherwise, it’s an easy go-to for low-impact movement, lounging, errand-running, and everything in between.
